Super Mommy? maybe tomorrow.

I was flattered when I got this question on my formspring.me account.
Really, How Do You Do It??? You Paint, you write, you take pics, you are a mom!, wife, friend, you work…. seriously, tell me your secret!!!
I smiled because it does seem like I do it all, and actually, I do. How do I do it? Never at the same time for one. I decided to give this question a nice hard look and analyze it all:
The trick to doing it all is to be ready to do one thing well, while sucking at all the others.
Here is what I mean:
I will paint today and be incredibly productive at the studio while my grocery list gets crumbled in my purse and eventually lost, I finally make it to school to pick up carpool and I’m greeted by 5 tired kids holding backpacks. “you’re late” to what I respond ” yes, I know, I’m sorry” as I peel a chunk of paint off my hair.
By mid afternoon my mom has called 3 times and I haven’t been able to call her back. I didn’t pick up the dry cleaning, I have nothing for dinner, I have fortysomething emails, and I still haven’t made it to the shower. Good thing I am married to a man who can eat anything I put in front of him without complaining (I hope my mother in-law is not reading this), kids will get some pasta, and for us wine, cheese and fruit. I will have sucked as a mother, as a housewife, as a daughter and as a friend, but damn! I will have had an insane painting mojo day!
The next day, I’ll drive on a fieldrip with five 3rd graders, I will smile as they leave a banana peel in my car and not talk, but scream to each other and giggle..all at the same time. Do some homework, maybe have some time to cook a better dinner. No painting today, I still haven’t called my mom or picked up the dry cleaning, or gone grocery shopping, so while sucking at all else, it will be a super mommy day.
If I do things right, I will assign a day of success to at least one of the things I do, though I have plenty of days where I actually suck at everything, those days I really should have just stayed in bed.
Today, I was successful at muti-tasking (I usually suck at this too) since I sat getting a pedicure while writing this post on my phone…but wait, I had someone else giving me the pedicure, I guess that’s not really multi-tasking, oh well, but I got this written, that’s good enough. Yay me! for getting out of bed.

Oh, come on, you’re good at everything and that’s that. And you are a nice person and manage not to be neurotic (that I know of). And you swear in English and Spanish (or so I am told, but only when you turned 40
!) The talent list is endless. Also, BTW, this blog site is very handsome and enviably well done. Sheesh. I need to figure all this stuff out and get going too. Your entries are funny and interesting, so thank you. I’m impressed that you already have people reading you! Rah, rah, siss boom bah, and go Maite, Super Woman! XO
