My friend Kelly started a blog and that reminded me that I have this one. (go visit her) For the Q&A page I started what seems a gazillion years ago… When you start to paint a piece, do you have images or ideas in your head of what you want it to look like or does it just develop on it’s own? I’m thinking all day. I think about paintings, and techniques, and colors, sizes, compositions. ALL.DAY.LONG. sometimes I wake [...]
All summer has gone by without a single entry…I worry about abandoning my blog. I dared myself not to do that. However, life gets in the way. kids out of school for summer..and somehow with limited hours in the day we are forced to prioritize.
I am going to start by doing a FAQ (frequently asked questions…for those of you who were “huh?”) page about my art, but for that I need your help, and I want to make it fun, so here is the deal. I am looking for a total of about 20 that I will use, so your chances for the painting are pretty damn good…If you think of a good question, that is.
Today I make a commitment to take a photo a day for 365 days. Not necessarily a self portrait like I did last year maybe some of those, but just a photo. One. It could be of anything at all, but hopefully it will be somehow a journal of my year (as if I need anything else to document my crazyness , i.e. this blog.)
For $20 you’ll get a chance to own all six paintings valued at over $1500. And for $100 you’ll get six tickets; that’s one free ticket. Pretty tempting, huh?
Getting down to the wire. We ,art6 hang the TEMPTATION6 show on Monday Feb 8th. The show will run from Feb. 9th to Feb 16th. It is a Valentine’s theme show and we have each put our spin on the theme of love, heartbreak, passion and seduction, along with all the other things related to that abstract thing we call LOVE. The Opening Reception is on February 12th from 6-9pm. There will be wine, and chocolate and music and great [...]
I have been so busy painting, that I have not taken the time to do things that either I need to do…like my son’s Middle School application *breathes into paper bag*, or go to the gym…let alone, some other things that make me happy…like taking her out. Today… we got reacquainted. It felt great.
I came into that initial meeting, expecting to have a few laughs, a few brownies, and exchange a few ideas. What I came out with was a incredible feeling of belonging, of anticipation and and urge to take charge…as well as some brownies and yes, some laughs. It was early last fall when I got together with 5 other artists to discuss our goals, our passion and our intentions to make our work a priority. That day, art6 was born. [...]
I don’t think I’m alone when I say that a lot of artists have a difficult time talking about their work in a public setting. I am usually very outspoken and really not the one hiding in the corner of a room full of people, but when it comes to talking about my work , the process, or my inspiration, I tend to be a bit shy…unless of course I have a glass of wine in hand. Somehow that is [...]
I am so unorganized I can’t find my own head. I have been working a lot, getting ready for my Temptation6 show. The studio is a disaster. There are things everywhere. Crumbled papers on the floor, tape, a box of toothpicks (for the paintings, not to pick my teeth), sketchbooks, half drunken coffee cups, paints, pencils, pastels, HELP! The sweet janitor-man that cleans the place said: “Ohhh.. a bit messy. I didn’t want to vacuum and because I wasn’t sure [...]
